At Jummah, we’re on a mission: to be better, for our planet, for our people, for our products. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about doing the work and showing that every step forward matters.
Our Goals
- People: We believe in fair work and safe conditions, with no compromises there. That’s why, by 2028, we're aiming to roll out a combined supplier-brand code of conduct, elevating our ethical purchasing practices in collaboration with our manufacturing partners.
- Materials: Although we already use 100% natural materials only, we can do better, and we’re looking at ways to only source lower-impact materials, like responsibly made cotton.
- Make & Manufacture: Every manufacturing partner we have will be audited according to either BSCI or SMETA standards. These audits help us monitor energy use, water stewardship, waste and chemical management and uphold fair labor standards. For current manufacturing, we have partnered with BSCI audited manufacturers that are over 90% rated GREEN.
Practising the Principles of Anti-Fast Fashion
We are anti-fast fashion through and through. We believe in thoughtful production, ethical practices, and intentional design. It ensures that both people and the planet are treated with dignity. At Jummah, we embody these values where possible today.
Take our hand-stamped calico tote bags, made in India, using 100% cotton and stamped in-house. These totes are gifted with every order you make with Jummah.
We don’t overproduce; we make our collections in small runs. We don’t rely on exploitative labour. We don’t chase the next micro-trends. For us, fashion should be about meaning, not just margins.
Alongside our offshore production, we’ve also been on the hunt for locally produced garments that continue to be a challenge for us, with many production houses having shut down many years ago in Australia. If you are or know anyone you know is in local manufacturing industry and would like to work with us, we would love to hear from you.
Ethical Fashion as a Form of Resistance
At Jummah, we understand that fashion cannot be separated from politics. In a world where many mainstream brands are complicit in illegal settlements, exploitative factories, and silent support for systems of genocide and occupation, we are intentional in our refusal to participate.
Reinvesting back into our communities also means ensuring our supply chain is free from harm. It means making difficult choices, doing the research, and standing firm in our ethics even when it costs more. To us, human dignity is non-negotiable.
We’re committed to:
- Measuring what matters.
- Setting new, meaningful goals.
- Taking action, consistently.
- Evolving our approach over time.
