OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Jummah is a for profit social-enterprise lifestyle wear brand; its core business is designing and selling everyday clothing that fuses Eastern tradition and history with Western street-fashion. Each piece blends art, language and design to honour the often-overlooked heritage Eastern cultures, spark social awareness, and invite meaningful connections. Made for and by the diaspora, our collections are a wearable meeting point for the diaspora community celebrating identity, belonging and pride.
Our purpose is both social and environmental: to strengthen cultural belonging and challenge fast fashion by championing slower, longer-lasting clothing that reflects real identities. We deliver this purpose through trade, earning our income from apparel sales, core retail work through physical markets, by partnerships and collaborations with creatives from minority backgrounds. We reinvest most of our profits into our mission, involving funding community pop-ups, paid opportunities for local creatives, culturally meaningful designs, and advocating for circular fashion.
In 2026/27, we are committed to annual impact reporting on cultural participation, creative partnerships and waste-avoiding practices. Our stance is staunchly anti–fast fashion given our small production runs, use of quality biodegradable materials and timeless silhouettes designed for long-term wear. Cultural representation is a priority through respectful use of heritage scripts and community input.
“Jummah”, the name, stems from its literal meaning Friday across various languages, such as Arabic, Bengali, Urdu, Hindi, Farsi, Swahili. Fridays (or Jummah) are commonly recognised as a day of gathering for the community. Similarly, this business, Jummah, also stands for unity in diversity.
