Hi, I’m Sharin, founder of Jummah, a lifestyle wear brand created to inspire change through culture, identity and clothing.
I was born and raised in Western Sydney, a place that shaped my values, my voice, and my view of the world. After completing my studies, I spent almost a decade working as a lawyer in some of the biggest companies in the world in Sydney and London. But there were always many sides to me, coexisting and sometimes colliding. There was the “Muslim-girl from Western Sydney” side, quietly defiant, shaped by community, faith, and grit. There was also the side of me that was captivated by the vibrancy of Dhaka, where I would wander through markets, running my fingers across handwoven saris and glimmering glass bangles sold by street vendors, feeling an almost magnetic pull to my ancestral roots. And then there was the “big city corporate lawyer” in me: the one who relished the sharpness of a tailored blazer, splurged on designer handbags, and spent countless nights working past midnight in a glittering office tower, catching company-expensed taxis home while the city slept. These seemingly disparate selves didn’t compete, they informed one another, weaving together a more complex, layered sense of identity that I’m still unfolding.
Becoming a mother recently has made me reflect deeply on the kind of world I want my child to grow up in. As someone who grew up between cultures, I often felt invisible—constantly navigating spaces where I had to fight to be seen or heard. Jummah was born out of that experience: a response to the in-between, created to foster representation, pride, and a sense of belonging for those who have ever felt overlooked or left out of the narrative.
The word Jummah means “Friday” in many languages, including Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Malay, Pashto, and Swahili, to name a few. For many cultures, Friday is a day of reflection, gathering, and unity, when people from all walks of life come together regardless of their background. That spirit of community guides everything we do.
Jummah, this brand, is more than clothing. Our lifestyle wear blends everyday comfort with artistic Eastern influences. It is gender-neutral and designed for anyone who wants fashion to reflect who they are, regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, or religion.
Our collections are made sustainably, using only natural fabrics, produced in small runs to combat overconsumption. Some of our collections are printed locally in Sydney and others made in Bangladesh, China, or Pakistan. Each item is crafted with intention, quality, and care, ensuring unique, meaningful designs that celebrate culture, identity, and solidarity.
Jummah is for anyone who values ethics, community, and representation in what they wear. It is clothing that tells a story and reflects the diversity of the world we live in.
